Emerson Colonial Theatre, Boston
Emerson Colonial Theatre, which opened in 1900 with a production of Ben-Hur, is the oldest continuously operated theater in Boston as well as being among the most magnificent, having retained much of its original period details.
Emerson Colonial Theatre is an Ambassador Theatre Group venue. John Tiedemann Inc./HPCS USA has a great deal of experience restoring old theatres. In this case, we were commissioned to restore the Colonial Theater’s interior, which included extensive conservation cleaning, conducting plaster repairs, decorative painting, gilding, and restoring the decorative paint scheme. The theater now feels fresh again, like the day it opened.
